Category: Animal attacks and dog bites
My mother was bitten by our neighbors dog, who's kept locked in their basement all day long. It's a minor bite, a few scratches visible and I'd like to know if that would be sufficient to speculate on a potential case against my neighbors. They brought out the dog in their drunken state and trying to threaten us. Please reply back as to whether or not we may be able to pursue a case. Thank you very much for your time.
Most dog-bite disputes never get to court; they're settled by negotiations between the injured person and the dog owner or insurance company. ... If you do have to go to court, use small claims court if your losses aren't too large. In many states, you can sue for up to $10,000 in small claims court.
